Exposure to H1 genotype measles virus at an international airport in Japan on 31 July 2016 results in a measles outbreak

After measles elimination was achieved in Japan in 2015, a measles outbreak occurred in 2016. We report on a cluster of five case-patients infected with H1 genotype, who used an airport on 31 July 2016. A possible index case was also identified. International airports pose particular challenges for measles control.
