Abstract

I evaluated Kawatsu and Uchimura’s paper of tuberculosis time-series forecasts during the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan and emphasize issues in key statistical choices and limitations. I highlighted baseline length, model evaluation, seasonality, uncertainty, and alternative analytical approaches. These refinements would strengthen inference on the pandemic’s impact.
